Senior Industrial Relations Partner


The role of Senior Industrial Relations Partner is a critical position that oversees all industrial and employee relations matters across Australia & New Zealand. The incumbent will be responsible for leading Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) negotiations, representing the organization against industrial action, Fair Work hearings, disciplinary measures, and collective and individual agreement matters.

This position reports directly to the VP HR & Workplace, ensuring strict compliance with company and regulatory requirements in all areas of Employee Relations and Industrial Relations.


Key Responsibilities:

The Senior IR Partner will act as the key Industrial Relations lead for all IR/ER matters across the organization. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a diverse range of cases and key IR/ER activities while supporting key business stakeholders in management of IR/ER cases
  • Supporting people leaders with workplace investigations and other case management, providing high-level advice on people matters

Day-to-day responsibilities will include reviewing and maintaining the AAP IR Framework, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, providing timely professional and accurate advice on the interpretation and application of industrial and other relevant legislation frameworks, and presenting and engaging in all Disciplinary Committee matters, where required.

Additionally, the Senior IR Partner will empower and support the HR Operational team to achieve their KPIs and service targets surrounding ER/IR matters, commit to maintaining and promoting a safe work environment, and comply with all national, legal, and parent organization regulations, procedures, and expectations including the Code of Conduct.


Requirements:

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a minimum 5 years' experience in Industrial Relations, Employee Relations, Legal or similar, along with experience in a HRBP or equivalent role. A detailed knowledge of current employment legislation, keeping up to date with emerging issues and changes, is also essential.

Candidates should have experience in implementing and/or maintaining IR framework, negotiating EBAs across a complex matrix structured business, people management, and leading a united team in the achievement of measurable results and strategic goals. Experience in coaching and guiding HR Business Partners, Functional Managers, and/or Employees through complex ER/IR processes and systems, as well as developing and writing HR policy and providing relevant tools to support business needs, is also desirable.

Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, and internal best practices, as well as knowledge of award interpretation and application, are also necessary.
