This full-time Diesel Fitter Apprenticeship is available to assist in the Plant & Fleet Workshop.

The primary role of this position is to learn and develop engineering diesel fitting trade skills and to use those skills to provide quality support to the workshop team.

Specific duties include:

  • Participate in theoretical training and complete a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Diesel Fitter/Mechanic)
  • Acquire practical on-the-job experience relevant to the trade
  • Assist and work with the workshop's qualified trade staff
  • Maintain work areas to ensure a safe, clean, tidy and efficient workplace
  • Ensure workshop equipment and tools are maintained in good condition
  • Maintain efficient timekeeping, work organisation and quality control

The requirements for this position are:

  • Minimum successful completion of year 10
  • A commitment to learn and complete formal qualifications
  • The ability to safely perform the physical demands of the role
  • A demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Sound comprehension and numeracy skills
  • The ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision as required
  • Proven team player qualities
  • A commitment to safety in the workplace
