Job Overview

This role involves the development and fine-tuning of a Large Language Model (LLM) to provide context-aware feedback to students in university courses within the Faculty of Engineering. The successful candidate will work closely with researchers and academics to design and implement AI models that enhance student learning outcomes.

The Machine Learning Engineer will be responsible for applying advanced knowledge of machine learning concepts to develop and fine-tune large language models in support of defined research objectives. This includes identifying opportunities to improve model performance and contributing to the development of innovative machine learning methodologies.

  • Develop and fine-tune large language models to provide context-aware feedback to students.
  • Collaborate with researchers and academics to design and implement AI models that enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of machine learning concepts to develop and fine-tune large language models.
  • Identify opportunities to improve model performance and contribute to the development of innovative machine learning methodologies.
Key Qualifications
  • A degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, including monitoring own workflow and priorities.
  • Advanced level of computer literacy and programming ability, with experience in machine learning frameworks and tools.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives, and values in action.
