Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Safety Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in implementing and managing our process safety systems, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and seamless collaboration across teams.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining Pacific Energy's Process Safety Management framework.
  • Providing expert guidance on critical control verification.
  • Leading and overseeing Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs), Layer of Protection analysis, Bowtie Analysis, Failure Modes Effects Analysis, and other risk assessments to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities.
  • Overseeing major hazard identification and ensuring compliance.
  • Documenting process safety risks, updating the risk register, and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Conducting audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify improvements.
  • Leading and investigating process safety incidents, determining root causes, and applying corrective actions.
  • Analyzing trends and leading indicators to drive continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in process safety management across mining, oil & gas, chemicals, or heavy industry.
  • Strong expertise in PSM frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and barrier management principles.
  • Proven ability to lead HAZOP, LOPA, Bowtie Analysis, and safety case development.
  • Skilled at engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Experienced in incident investigation, auditing, and safety performance reporting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
