The Mental Health/AOD Practice Improvement Lead will support existing bed-based services within Austin Health. This role involves implementing integrated treatment, care and support for individuals with co-occurring mental illness and substance use issues, as per Department of Health publications (2022). The position will also drive practice improvements across the service through training, mentoring, modelling and introducing tools and resources to enhance service providers' knowledge, skills and confidence when working with mental health and substance use issues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve mental health and AOD practice
  • Providing training and support to service providers
  • Mentoring and coaching staff to build their capacity and confidence
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to develop and implement best practice guidelines
