About the Role

The Senior Mining Engineer will be responsible for providing short, medium, and long-term planning for Open Pit mining operations at Genesis Minerals Limited. This role requires a strong technical background in mining engineering, with experience in Open Pit mine planning and design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish mine technical services systems, processes, and standards to deliver robust mine planning functions.
  • Complete pit optimization using software and develop 3-month and 18-month mine plans.
  • Conduct long-term scheduling and provide conceptual designs to support recommended strategies.
  • Review and optimize 'Life of Mine' designs and construct detailed execution schedules.
  • Ensure planning input assumptions are reviewed for accuracy.
  • Consult with the geology team and ensure drill programs are adequately accounted for within mine schedules.
  • Develop mine designs and schedules to support medium- and long-term plans.
  • Assist with budget production and schedule development for Open Pit Operations.
  • Consult with production personnel to ensure production plans are executed effectively.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to Open Pit Mining Engineers.

Requirements

  • Operational site-based mining experience, preferably in Gold.
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years' experience in an Open Pit Mine Planning role.
  • Technical expertise in Open Pit mine design, drill and blast, optimization, and planning.
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office - Excel.
  • Proficient with computer scheduling software (Deswick, Surpac, etc.).
  • Sound knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to mining.
