Job Opportunity: Fitter and Turner Apprentice

Fitters and Turners are skilled tradespeople responsible for the manufacture of a wide range of products, including engines, pumps, gearboxes and other mechanical equipment.

They work with metal to create precise components using various machines such as lathes, milling machines and drill presses.

About the Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is a 48-month full-time position that will provide you with hands-on experience in a workshop environment.

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in fitting, turning, boring and finishing metals, as well as learn about hydraulics and mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Operate machines such as lathes, milling machines and drill presses
• Assemble parts to precise specifications
• Set up and operate machinery to manufacture products
• Maintain and repair machinery to ensure optimal performance
• Read drawings and blueprints to interpret product designs
• Work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced workshop environment

Required Skills and Qualifications

• A genuine passion for engineering and problem-solving
• A commitment to completing the 48-month apprenticeship program
• A valid driver's licence
• The ability to pass a drug and alcohol test
• Completion of a VET course within the industry would be highly regarded
