About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child and Youth Care Specialist to join our team at Residential Care Riverland. As a key member of our care team, you will provide high-quality support and care to children and young people who are under the Guardianship of the Chief Executive, Department for Child Protection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized care, guidance, and support to children and young people in a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the care team to develop and implement individualized care plans that promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of children and young people.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of therapeutic programs and activities that promote positive relationships, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Provide opportunities for children and young people to experience success and realize their potential through education, vocational training, and recreational activities.
  • Work effectively with families, carers, and other stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the development of care plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children and young people's progress, including daily observations, care plans, and incident reports.
Requirements
  • Qualifications in Child and Youth Care or a related field (or willingness to complete the Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention within 12 months of commencing employment).
  • Experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma and abuse.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish rapport and maintain positive relationships with children, young people, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to understand and respect the cultural and individual needs of children and young people.
  • Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain in accordance with policy).
