Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Youth Mental Health Nursing Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team. As a key leader in the Custodial Forensic Youth Mental Health Service, you will work closely with young people, their families, carers, supporters and kin to provide recovery-oriented care in a new voluntary Mental Health Unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will be the primary point of contact for clinical issues and a resource for staff on each shift, ensuring the efficient operation of the clinical environment and effective workforce management.
  • You will deliver evidence-based nursing care to young people in custody across a 24/7 rotating roster, providing specialist mental health nursing interventions and effectively managing critical incidents and emergency situations.
  • You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based interventions, promoting a Strengths-Based, Recovery-Focused approach to care.
  • You will possess comprehensive experience in the application of clinical and nursing practice in youth mental health, including risk assessment, mental state assessment, psychoeducation, and care coordination, ideally in an acute or subacute inpatient setting.
Requirements:
  • You will hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, or a Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
  • You will have completed a post-graduate qualification in Mental Health.
