Mental Health Consumer Advocate
Latrobe Regional Health is seeking a Consumer Perspective Worker to join our Traralgon Community Mental Health team on a part-time basis.
As a Consumer Perspective Worker, you will provide peer support to consumers who are receiving care from Latrobe Regional Health Mental Health Service.
You will form mutually supportive and empathetic peer relationships by appropriately and purposefully sharing your own story and understanding of the impacts of mental distress and illness on consumers.
You will use your lived experiences supporting someone through service use and recovery to provide emotional and practical support, making it easier to navigate the mental health system, and inspiring confidence, optimism, and hope in others about the journey of recovery.
LRH employees enjoy access to:
- Free access to our Staff Wellbeing Centre offering a range of health education and wellbeing services
- Access to ongoing development through daily education sessions, bespoke training and career & study support
- Tailored flexible work options to support work life balance, including ADO's, 5 weeks leave, regional salary packaging and additional purchased leave
- Fantastic social club activities and diverse and inclusive workplace activities
- Workplace Wellbeing programs and activities uniquely designed for LRH staff
We are looking for candidates with:
- Lived experience of being a consumer of mental health services
- A willingness to purposefully and appropriately use your own story to help others further their own understanding of and belief in recovery
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team
For more information, please contact Linda Waters or John Witschi for a confidential discussion.
