We are seeking an exceptional leader to fill the role of Head of Laboratories. This strategic position offers the chance to drive meaningful outcomes, foster innovative thinking, and contribute to the growth of our client's laboratory services.

The Role

In this key leadership position, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of our client's laboratory services. You will work closely with the Deputy CEO and CEO to identify areas for improvement, drive innovation, and implement plans that align with the organisation's vision and goals.

You will lead a large team of laboratory managers, scientists, and technical staff, building their capabilities and ensuring all staff feel genuinely mentored, supported, developed, and valued. In collaboration with the senior leadership and executive team, you will cultivate a high-performance culture focused on growth and development.

Your Key Responsibilities

Managing the laboratory P&L to optimize return.Overseeing daily laboratory operations, ensuring all processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with quality and best practices.Ensuring agreed measures are set to track and drive the right operational outcomes (e.g. case turnaround time and cost per case metrics).Overseeing the functional elements involved with managing the micro, parasitology, and viral teams.Ensuring the laboratory meets daily service needs and responsibilities.Managing laboratory resources, including personnel, rosters, equipment, and budgets, to ensure optimal performance.Leading the implementation of new technologies, methodologies, and testing procedures to improve service delivery.Representing our client externally, enhancing their presence, and advocating for their business alongside senior leaders.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A proven track record in driving operational improvements and leading strategic growth initiatives.
  • Experience working in a Histology Laboratory in a similar position will be highly regarded.
  • Highly capable of leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities.
  • A natural brand ambassador – energized by opportunities to present externally, advocate for the practice, and speak to the values and objectives of the business.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels.
  • Great judgement and possession of a high level of commercial acumen.
  • Strong and effective project management skills.
  • Skilful at conveying complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.

Location and Salary
