Operational Risk Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Operational Risk Specialist to join our team in Global Markets. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting our markets-facing business groups manage their risk profile through the refinement and implementation of the Operational Risk Management Framework.

This includes providing independent oversight of the operational risk profile, reviewing and evaluating new business initiatives, and identifying and managing key operational risks. The successful candidate will provide insights and advice to the business on best practice for design, measurement, analysis, and reporting of operational risk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and challenging the scope and outcome of business risk reporting, targeted assessments, significant incidents, key risk indicators, projects, and assurance activities.
  • Analysing operational risk data to identify risk themes and facilitate improved risk management.
  • Providing insights and advice to the business on best practice for design, measurement, analysis, and reporting of operational risk.
  • Assisting in compiling responses to requests from stakeholders including regulators, auditors, and senior management.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in Operational Risk, Internal or External Audit gained within an international financial institution or financial services firm.
  • Experience in financial markets and/or commodities trading and financing.
  • Working knowledge of the regulatory environment in which we operate.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Tertiary degree in Finance or a related area. Relevant postgraduate degrees or professional qualifications (CA, CFA, CPA, FRM) are valuable.
