Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Portfolio Analyst to join our team at Anton Murray Consulting in Sydney. As an Assistant Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with the management of assets for various Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs). Your primary goal will be to ensure that these funds perform in line with their investment objectives and remain within their established mandates.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily reconciliation of front office systems with official valuations.
  • Identify and execute trades necessary to meet the investment objectives of the funds, including index changes, cash flows, corporate actions, and currency hedging.
  • Monitor capital markets activities and develop strategies to optimize fund performance.
  • Prepare regular fund reports for management, external data vendors, regulators, and service providers.
  • Develop front office tools and collaborate with portfolio administration, compliance, and other business functions to achieve common goals.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the investment process for ETFs from purchase to ongoing asset management.
  • Monitor fund exposures relative to underlying indices on a daily basis.
  • Analyze tracking error and identify potential problems for resolution.
  • Verify fund valuations and produce fund composition files.
  • Liaise with market makers for capital markets activities.
  • Contribute to product development from concept to implementation.
  • Ensure service providers adhere to Service Level Agreements.
  • Maintain communication with legal and compliance teams to ensure regulatory adherence.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, e.g., Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification.
  • 3-5 years of experience in asset management, preferably in index/portfolio trading desks.
  • Strong technical knowledge of financial products, analytical, and numerical skills for portfolio management and risk assessments.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VBA programming, and proficiency in other programming languages desirable.
  • Risk management mindset and ability to innovate solutions to problems.

Salary Estimate: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, based on industry standards and location.
