About the Role

The Data Engineer - Cloud Solutions role plays a key part in designing, building, and maintaining data products and services at Cartology. As a member of our Data Engineering team, you will work closely with the Data Engineering Manager to create market-leading data solutions using Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver data infrastructure and solutions in GCP, including data models, ETL pipelines, warehousing using various tools such as dbt, Bigquery, Looker, Dataflow, Fivetran, and Cloud Composer.
  • Optimise and troubleshoot data products and tooling to ensure they are running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Implement and maintain best practices for data governance, data security, data quality, and integrity for all data assets.
  • Support data analysis and reporting activities through data tooling, data access patterns, data visualisation, query, and report optimisation.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices and share this knowledge with the broader technical teams.

Requirements

  • Strong SQL, Python, and data modeling skills with demonstrated success in designing and building complex data infrastructure and pipelines.
  • Knowledge of software engineering concepts and best practices.
  • Experience building meaningful dashboards in a modern Business Intelligence (BI) tool, such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Experience building ETL pipelines and modeling data for both BI and Data Product consumption.
  • Experience in building solutions in cloud platforms, with a preference for GCP.
  • Technical understanding of modern cloud-based data warehousing, such as BigQuery or Snowflake.
  • Experience in the media industry, including digital media, is highly desirable.
  • Experience in retail and e-commerce is beneficial but not essential.
