Livestock Operations Manager

About the role
Australian Country Choice is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Livestock Operations Manager to join our team at Brindley Park. As a key member of our feedlot leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of day-to-day livestock handling and processing activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing on the job training to staff, competency assessments and competency sign offs
- Monitoring work, health & safety standards, ensuring safe work practices are adhered to and that hazards and risks are proactively reported and managed
- Ensuring the highest standards of animal health and welfare practices and procedures are maintained at all times
- Managing feedlot horse plant including horse assessments/suitability, shoeing, dental, chiropractic, veterinary, feeding & nutrition programs
- Completing general maintenance activities including welding, water, cables and basic machinery servicing
- Ensuring accurate collection, recording and integrity of livestock data

As a Livestock Operations Manager with Australian Country Choice, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and enjoy providing hands-on supervision to the livestock team of 14, including mentoring and coaching senior team members.
About you
We are looking for a passionate and experienced individual with well-developed cattle handling and horsemanship skills, experience and knowledge. You will bring:
- Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in cattle processing within a feedlot environment including arrivals, induction, hospital/health, drafting and loading out activities
- Effective leadership and team management ability
- In depth knowledge of livestock health, and husbandry techniques and treatments
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare
- Understanding of work, health & safety and the ability to manage a safe place of work
- Sound written communication & numeracy
- Attention to detail
- Computer literacy and experience in livestock data systems
- Manual Driver's licence
- Gun licence or the ability to obtain one
