Optical Systems Engineer Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Systems Engineer to develop advanced optical systems for our quantum sensors. Working closely with the engineering and research teams, you will design, construct, and test ruggedised and miniaturised optical systems for onboard deployment.

This role involves collaborating with physicists, engineers, and stakeholders to create high-precision measurement systems. You will be part of the team responsible for integration, testing, and validation of newly commissioned sensors, as well as participating in critical quantum sensing field trials with key industry partners.

Requirements:
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in physics or a related field
  • Have a proven track record of delivering high-precision free-space optical designs, including analysis, tolerancing, alignment, and validation
  • Demonstrate experience designing with ZEMAX software
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience using Inventor or similar CAD software
  • Experience with ZEMAX API and Python programming
  • Knowledge of design and alignment procedures for micro optics
  • Experience with fibre optics
