Software Engineer Role Overview

This software engineer role involves working with a global trading business to expand its delta one engineering team. As an engineer at heart, you will have the mindset of a builder and maintainer rather than a user, and be in the innovating phase of your career. To be successful, you must be a software engineer with financial domain knowledge.

You will partner daily with traders to gather requirements and translate models into production-quality code, mainly using Python. You will work with market connectivity data providers, build data pipelines that harbour large amounts of data, and improve CI/CD pipelines. Some exposure to C++ is required since the code base connecting market data is in C++.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building data pipelines (Python)
  • Creating development environments for quant traders to use, involving CI/CD & Python
  • Developing tools for data processing & market signals
  • Working with market data from exchanges (C++)
  • Understanding the language of traders and building applications that execute trades
  • Developing new models to be tested and built into production code
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Software engineering background with financial domain knowledge
  • Degree in software engineering or computer science; further study in applied or quantitative finance, or equivalent experience in trading or finance environments
  • Proficiency in Python; some exposure to C++ for market data and performance considerations
  • Experience building data pipelines and CI/CD processes; ability to translate trader requirements into production-quality code
  • Familiarity with market data from exchanges and data providers; comfortable handling large data volumes
  • Ability to speak the language of traders and develop applications that execute trades
