Rating Officer

Job Description:

We are seeking a diligent and customer-focused professional to join our finance team in an operational and administrative role. This position involves maintaining the accuracy of Council's rates database and supporting the delivery of rating services in line with legislative and policy requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process customer, property, and account maintenance transactions related to rates.
  • Provide timely updates to the rates database ensuring high-quality service for internal stakeholders and the broader community.
  • Liaise with debt recovery agents, payment agencies, and government bodies regarding property and rates matters.
  • Deliver excellent customer service through various interactions.
  • Support the continuous improvement of rating processes and data quality.
  • Assist Team Leaders and Coordinators with projects and reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to meeting statutory deadlines and issue dates related to rates and charges.

Requirements:

  • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in customer service, preferably in rates, finance, or local government settings.
  • Working knowledge or willingness to learn rating systems and relevant legislation.
  • Well-developed communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of data entry accuracy and document handling.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and meet competing deadlines.
