The Melbourne team operates a range of unique Test and Evaluation (T&E) capabilities, including the Medium Weight Shock Testing Machine (JASSO) and the heavy weight shock barge for Maritime systems qualification.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Senior Test Engineer to join our Applied Science team in Melbourne, Victoria. The successful candidate will primarily support our Defence portfolios T&E work in shock testing of naval equipment, with opportunities to drive expansion into new T&E capabilities. Responsibilities will include managing and maintaining specialist test apparatus, supporting workshop management, fabricating fixtures, developing safe operating procedures, setting up instrumentation during testing activities, and traveling for off-site testing.

This role involves a mix of field test work and laboratory/bench work. As a Senior Test Engineer, you will have a significant impact on delivering high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our clients. If you have existing T&E experience or strong trade skills and are looking to deploy them in a new setting, this role may be ideal.

Responsibilities
  • Management and maintenance of specialist test apparatus and instrumentation systems
  • Support to management of workshop / warehouse facility
  • Fabrication of fixtures for use during testing programs
  • Development and updating of safe operating procedures and risk assessments for activities conducted in the workshop and during offsite testing activities
  • Set-up, monitoring, and triggering instrumentation during testing activities
