The role of a Technical Director for Crowd Simulation involves producing sophisticated crowd shots using various techniques. Working under the direction of the CG Supervisor and DFX Supervisors, this individual will develop a specific look, movement, and style that achieves the Creative Goals and vision of the VFX Supervisor and Director.

This position requires successfully delivering simulations by gathering 3D Assets from departments such as Build, Layout, and Animation, utilizing software like Houdini and Maya, and custom pipeline tools to create photorealistic crowd simulations.

Key Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in computer-generated animation within high-end live-action feature films.
  • A good understanding of crowd simulation in Houdini or related software programs.
  • Proven experience in producing crowd simulations with attention to detail, timing, and thorough knowledge of physical simulation techniques and technologies.
  • Familiarity with pipeline issues and problem-solving.
  • Experience in balancing quality with time constraints.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Programming skills, such as mel or Python.
  • Experience in live-action effects or Crowd work.
  • Knowledge of Houdini, Massive, and Maya.
  • Experience in other areas of visual effects, including TV and Games.
