Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a recent graduate in a quantitative discipline to join our innovative AI/ML team as a Graduate AI/ML Engineer.

This is an exceptional opportunity to work on cutting-edge artificial intelligence and machine learning projects that directly impact millions of readers across Australia.

You'll be working with the latest Google Cloud technologies, developing sophisticated models across computer vision, large language models, and churn prediction, whilst collaborating with stakeholders across the entire business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and deploy machine learning models for computer vision applications, large language model implementations, and churn prediction systems
  • Create intuitive user interfaces for AI/ML tools and dashboards that enable business users to interact with complex models
  • Develop robust data pipelines and extraction processes to support model training and inference
  • Build automated workflows and systems to streamline AI/ML operations and model deployment
  • Work closely with stakeholders across editorial, marketing, product, and technology teams
  • Stay current with latest AI/ML developments and contribute to the team's technical strategy

About You:

A recent graduate (or final year student) in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, data analytics, engineering, artificial intelligence, or machine learning.

You also bring:

  • Strong interest in AI/ML and their real-world applications
  • Intermediate Python programming skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Collaborative mindset with a team-first approach

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform services
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn
  • Understanding of computer vision or natural language processing concepts
  • Experience with data visualization and UI/UX principles
  • Previous internships or projects related to AI/ML
