About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Officer to join our team. As a Senior Legal Officer, you will play a key role in providing high-quality legal services to our internal clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and research to support policy development and operational activities
  • Work closely with policymakers and operational staff to ensure effective implementation of laws and regulations
  • Develop and deliver legal training to staff in policy and operational decision-making roles
  • Mentor and supervise junior legal officers to achieve their career aspirations

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-6 years of relevant post-admission experience
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: biosecurity, agricultural production, trade, food safety, export law, employment law, commercial law, data management, and intellectual property
  • Degree in law and eligibility to hold an ACT legal practising certificate

Selection Process

The selection process will be used to fill ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies in Canberra. The merit pool established through this selection process will be valid for 18 months from the date the vacancy was advertised and may be used to fill future vacancies in the division.
