About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Psychiatry Registrar to join our team at St Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne.

The successful candidate will work in a community-based setting, providing assessment, investigation, and treatment of mental health issues to patients treated at the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (Family Counselling Service).

The role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team, including consultant psychiatrists, Aboriginal Health Workers, and other health professionals, to develop and implement treatment plans that cater to the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This is an accredited training position, funded under the Federal Government's Specialist Training Program, providing the successful candidate with the opportunity to gain valuable experience and skills in Indigenous mental health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and treat patients with mental health issues in a community-based setting
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Provide clinical supervision and support to junior staff members
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Registration as a medication prescriber
