Job Title: Employment and Safety Senior Associate

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team in Brisbane. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with extensive experience in contentious and non-contentious employment and industrial matters.

The successful candidate will be part of a close-knit team, supported by regular mentoring and training opportunities. Self-motivation, energy, and adaptability are essential in this dynamic environment.

About the Role:
  • Provide legal advice to clients and manage matters effectively, ensuring all deadlines are met
  • Regularly review applicable case law and legislative changes
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to produce timely, commercial, and legally accurate advice
  • Develop a robust workload, prioritizing tasks and delivering services efficiently
  • Build an understanding of client operations and strategy
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Mentor and develop junior staff
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and manage CLE requirements
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Industrial Relations Practice: Experience in industrial relations practice and management, particularly in enterprise bargaining
  2. Employment Law Expertise: Minimum 4+ years' PQE with a background in employment law
  3. Candidate Requirements: Previous exposure to business development and a natural ability to build strong client relationships, ability to manage client expectations and run matters autonomously, interest in establishing a long-term career
  4. Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to relate to people at all levels and work effectively in a team
  5. Commercial Acumen: A focus on turnaround time and commercial acumen, practical problem-solving skills and a strong, plain language communication style
