About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer Software to join our team at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. As a Staff Engineer Software, you will play a key role in developing and testing efficient, reliable, and maintainable application components and solutions to meet design specifications for technology projects and operations.

You will be responsible for mentoring and providing design and technical assistance to other members of the team, ensuring that our platforms and frameworks enable outstanding design and simple, intuitive features used by millions of people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and test efficient, reliable, and maintainable application components and solutions to meet design specifications for technology projects and operations.
  • Mentor and provide design and technical assistance to other members of the team.
  • Contribute to the definition and governance of our standards and best practices.
  • Apply and promote industry best patterns and practices, driving high-quality outcomes to solve core business objectives.
  • Provide accurate estimates for the development effort for new features.
Requirements
  • Expertise in modern application design patterns, including REST API services, containers services, and serverless applications.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of different hosting patterns, including IaaS, CaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
  • Enterprise experience in at least one of the following cloud hosting platforms: AWS cloud, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong understanding of programming languages, including C#.NET Core, Java, Node.js, Golang, and scripting languages such as YAML, JavaScript, and Shell script.
  • Experience with build and hosting technologies, including Kubernetes, Docker, and infrastructure as code tools such as Cross Plane, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
  • Strong understanding of source code control tools, including GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket, and CI/CD pipeline tools, including GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and AWS CloudFormation + AWS Code Pipeline.
