As a detail-oriented Civil Engineering Design Specialist, you will create technical drawings for homes, roads, landscapes, commercial buildings, and other structures from architects' sketches, incorporating exact measurements and codes, and entering data to generate 3-D design models.

To be successful in this role, you should possess solid knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software and the ability to apply the fundamentals of sketching and design. A top-notch Civil Engineering Design Specialist will be someone whose drafting expertise contributes to structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing civil and architectural designs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create drawings that incorporate exact measurements, calculations, building codes, and other construction details using CAD software.
  • Draft plans and detailed drawings for structures, installations, and construction projects working from sketches or notes.
  • Print CAD drawing schematics for use by construction managers, structural, and maintenance engineers.
  • Prepare drawings, charts, and records with CAD equipment and conventional drafting techniques.
  • Correlate, interpret, and modify data obtained from topographical surveys, well logs, and geophysical prospecting reports.
  • Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from civil engineers to ensure that they conform to design concepts.
  • Supervise or conduct field surveys, inspections, or technical investigations to obtain data required to revise construction drawings.
  • Explain drawings to production or construction teams and provide adjustments as necessary.
  • Collaborate with architects and construction engineers to ensure adherence to building specifications and industry regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and technologies in civil engineering design.

Requirements:

  • Prior 3 years of experience as a Civil Engineer Draftsperson is advantageous.
  • Advanced proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • In-depth knowledge of building design, specifications, codes, and structural analysis.
  • Ability to apply the fundamentals of sketching and design.
  • Great analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
