Job Description

We are seeking experienced professionals with demonstrated expertise in Public Law and Corporate Commercial Law to join our team. As a Senior Public Law and Corporate Commercial Lawyer, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining detailed knowledge of specific legislation, case law, directions, instruments, principles, and issues relevant to our agency;
  • Exercising high-level judgment and common sense, and thinking critically to analyze issues and develop legal advice/solutions for our clients;
  • Engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Providing leadership and supervision to junior staff members.

Your areas of expertise may include:

  • Workplace, industrial relations, and compensation matters;
  • Legislation development and process;
  • Human rights and discrimination;
  • Property and leasing matters;
  • Debt recovery;
  • Freedom of information, privacy, and data access and protection;
  • Commercial law matters such as general contract law, procurement, tendering, and probity, grants, intellectual property, media, corporate structures, and governance, and insurance;
  • Disputes and litigation.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in law from an Australian university or a comparable overseas degree recognized in Australia for admission to practice;
  • A practicing certificate or eligibility to attain one.
