This role offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the educational journey of students in primary schools. As a School Community Liaison Officer, you will work closely with school communities to increase school engagement and strengthen partnerships with families and the local community.

You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining communication between young people, families, and the local community. This may involve planning interventions to ensure young people are connected to an education, facilitating information sessions for parents, and providing platforms for student voice and leadership opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with school communities, families, and community organisations involving individuals of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills are essential, as well as the ability to partner with and broker support from local community organisations.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with school communities, families, and the local community.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase school engagement and strengthen partnerships with families and the local community.
  • Facilitate information sessions for parents and provide platforms for student voice and leadership opportunities.
  • Work directly with groups of young people or individuals to plan interventions and ensure they are connected to an education.

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in community development, education, social work, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with school communities, families, and community organisations involving individuals of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
