About the Role

As a Data Center Technical Operations Engineer, you will be part of the AWS Infrastructure Services team, which owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.

You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Your collaboration with people across AWS will help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

The Infrastructure Operations (Data Center) team is the backbone of AWS, supporting the rapidly growing AWS business and customers 24/7. We are committed to maintaining the physical infrastructure of AWS, ensuring the standards for operational performance in the areas of safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency, and cost.

In this role, you will participate in a 24/7 rotating shift pattern, undertake and support management of both routine maintenance and emergency service of various critical systems such as switch-gear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, fire systems, etc.

  • Installation of new rack capacity and provisioning of power/cooling
  • On-site management of contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed, is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation
Responsibilities
  1. Generate change management requests & incident management tickets for all facility related events (mechanical, electrical, plumbing)
  2. Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal Service-Level Agreements (SLA)
  3. Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, and facility management
  4. Provide operational readings and key performance indicators to maintain uptime
  5. Collaborate with data center IT managers and other business leaders to coordinate day-to-day operations, projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency
  6. Drive & implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability & reliability
