
Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

Sawyer Sourcing is seeking a skilled Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in WHS and quality improvement, with a strong ability to assess risks and provide effective solutions.
In this dual role, you will oversee Work, Health, and Safety (WHS) across Sawyer Sourcing sites, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. You will also support Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) by assisting with quality management system administration and collaborating on improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications and/or experience in WHS and quality, with a demonstrated understanding of quality improvement philosophy and processes. They will be able to develop, manage, and improve WHS systems, policies, and procedures, as well as coordinate multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment: Identify hazards, assess risks, and implement appropriate control measures to mitigate workplace incidents.
- Expert Advice: Provide expert advice on occupational health and incident prevention strategies to management and staff.
- Culture Development: Collaborate with employees and management to foster a proactive WHS culture within the organisation.
- Incident Reporting: Promote and oversee the reporting of incidents, near misses, and hazards, including the investigation and rectification process.
- System Integration: Ensure all WHS systems and processes integrate effectively with other business functions to enhance operational efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor compliance with federal and state WHS legislation, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Administrative Obligations: Oversee administrative and reporting obligations related to WHS.
- Policies and Procedures: Develop, implement, maintain and review policies and procedures and work within the LogicQMS system.
