Job Summary:

This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned AI/ML professional to mentor a diverse team, build upon established best practices, and shape the technical direction of projects that directly impact millions of readers across Australia.

You'll be working with the latest Google Cloud technologies, providing technical leadership across diverse AI/ML domains including generative AI, predictive analytics, and intelligent automation systems, whilst serving as the key technical liaison between our AI/ML team and business stakeholders.

About the Role:

  • Technical Leadership + Architect and implement scalable AI/ML frameworks and standards
  • Establish coding, model development, and deployment best practices
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps and evaluate new AI/ML technologies
  • Lead code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Mentor team members from graduate to senior levels
  • Conduct workshops, code reviews, and share best practices
  • Support career growth and solve complex technical challenges
  • Act as technical liaison for editorial, marketing, product, and tech teams
  • Translate AI/ML concepts into clear business insights
  • Identify AI/ML opportunities and design solutions aligned with business needs

Your Skills and Qualifications:

  • 6+ years in AI/ML engineering or related fields
  • Advanced Python skills and experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
  • Proven experience in diverse AI/ML domains including generative AI, NLP, predictive analytics, recommendation systems, anomaly detection, and multimodal AI
  • History of mentoring and leading technical initiatives
  • Extensive Google Cloud Platform expertise
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent problem-solving and process optimisation skills
