The role of a Retail Store Design Manager is pivotal in shaping the visual identity and customer experience of retail stores. This position plays a critical part in driving business growth through strategic project management, encompassing new store openings, refurbishments, and maintenance.

This manager will lead comprehensive project management for creative solutions across all retail store formats, ensuring adherence to schedules, quality standards, and budgets. They will prepare detailed architectural briefs, adopt a collaborative design approach, and develop practical solutions for retail and maintenance needs.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in multi-project construction management within the retail, hospitality, or related sectors. They must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive approach to building lasting partnerships with local General Contractors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading project management for creative solutions across all retail store formats
  • Preparing detailed architectural briefs and adopting a collaborative design approach
  • Developing practical small-scope solutions for retail and maintenance needs
  • Conducting thorough site surveys and providing expert architectural and construction feedback
  • Effectively managing relationships with external consultants and contractors
  • Applying strong financial acumen, including quantity surveying, budget forecasting, value engineering, and negotiating project tenders
  • Coordinating permitting, engineering, and external services for building and occupancy
  • Implementing quality assurance through factory and site visits, shop drawing reviews, and defect rectification
  • Driving innovation by sourcing samples and engaging in continuous research and trials

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Significant experience in multi-project construction management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive approach to building lasting partnerships
  • Highly autonomous, proactive, efficient, and capable of delivering under tight deadlines
  • Decisive and practical thinker, able to solve complex problems creatively
  • Attention to detail, strong multitasking abilities, and ability to prioritise work
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite and Excel; CAD experience is a plus
  • Relevant academic background or qualification in Design or Architecture
