Electrical Maintenance Technician Role

The primary objective of this position is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems within a large building complex.

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in maintenance electrician roles, preferably in hospital settings, is required. This experience must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, including tradespeople, non-trade staff, and contractors, to deliver high-quality maintenance services in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in the maintenance and repair of emergency generators, electrical distribution systems, nurse call systems, and C-bus lighting are essential requirements. Additionally, proficiency in mandatory testing procedures such as electrical safety tagging, generator testing, and residual current device testing is necessary.
  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently while adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities, including the capacity to interpret building plans and services diagrams, are also crucial for success in this role.
Selection Criteria
  • Educational qualifications and registration as an electrician are compulsory; however, applicants holding relevant trade qualifications or tertiary degrees may be considered if they can demonstrate transferable skills and experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of Local Health District policies and procedures, Australian Standards, and Codes of Practice relevant to electrical installations, operation, and maintenance are highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, work order systems, and basic computer skills are expected.
