About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified professional to work in a public health unit, providing expertise and clinical advice to support health protection activities.

The successful candidate will lead the implementation of these activities, including identifying, monitoring, and investigating significant public health risks and coordinating responses.

Responsibilities
  • Provide public health medicine expertise, clinical advice, and support to the public health unit.
  • Collaborate with PHU staff specialists and the PHU team to provide evidence-based clinical, public health, and program advice to support health protection activities.
  • Lead the implementation of these activities, including identifying, monitoring, and investigating significant public health risks and coordinating responses.
Requirements
  • Current medical practitioner registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM) or other relevant specialist recognition as provided under the Health Insurance Act 1973.
  • Demonstrated understanding of public health medicine principles and ability to practice to a high standard with evidence-based practice.
  • Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management.
  • Experience in teaching/training at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff.
