Job Title: Casual Art Gallery Installer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Casual Art Gallery Installer to join our team at Wagga Wagga City Council.

About the Role

The successful candidate will assist the Curator and Gallery Technical Officer in preparing, installing, and de-installing 2D/3D artworks and audio-visual equipment. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation, installation, and de-installation of exhibitions, including the use of tools and equipment as directed.
  • Provide a high level of care when handling artworks, including unwrapping and wrapping.
  • Undertake manual lifting of exhibition furniture and equipment, as well as loading and unloading trucks.
  • Assist in the positioning of lighting on artworks and preparing wall surfaces for exhibitions.
  • Maintain and clean exhibition spaces and work areas.
  • Undertake artwork condition reporting as directed.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications and experience in the arts, gallery, or museum sector, or in customer service and retail.
  • Previous experience in installing complex exhibitions, preferably in a cultural organization.
  • Experience working in a small team and under the direction of a team leader.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • High level of motivation and enthusiasm.
