Track Inspector

The Track Inspector is a critical position within V/Line's Network Development, Assets & Maintenance Group.
Reporting to the Night shift Ganger, the Track Inspector is responsible for ensuring the safety, maintenance, and inspection of the allocated section of track between Werribee and Warrnambool.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular inspections to monitor rail wear, rail creep, flooding, joint condition, and buckles, and perform minor repairs as needed.
- Submit detailed reports on renewal or rail infrastructure maintenance items.
- Supervise and participate in the replacement or renewal of track work materials, as well as repairs and maintenance of V/Lines and other Infrastructure assets.
- Monitor third-party activities on leased property and ensure their works do not affect the safety of the rail infrastructure.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Standards and Regulations.
We are seeking a suitably qualified Track Inspector who is safety-focused, has excellent communication skills, and a thorough knowledge of track components.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Demonstrated alignment with V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.
- Basic computer capabilities.
- Track inspector skill set qualification.
- Gangers Ticket (Certificate 3).
- Certificate II - Rail Infrastructure.
- Safe Working Certificate Level 4.
- The willingness to work permanent night shift, occasional overtime, different shifts, and travel when required.
