Track Inspector

The Track Inspector is a critical position within V/Line's Network Development, Assets & Maintenance Group.

Reporting to the Night shift Ganger, the Track Inspector is responsible for ensuring the safety, maintenance, and inspection of the allocated section of track between Werribee and Warrnambool.

• Conduct regular inspections to monitor rail wear, rail creep, flooding, joint condition, and buckles, and perform minor repairs as needed.
• Submit detailed reports on renewal or rail infrastructure maintenance items.
• Supervise and participate in the replacement or renewal of track work materials, as well as repairs and maintenance of V/Lines and other Infrastructure assets.
• Monitor third-party activities on leased property and ensure their works do not affect the safety of the rail infrastructure.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Standards and Regulations.

We are seeking a suitably qualified Track Inspector who is safety-focused, has excellent communication skills, and a thorough knowledge of track components.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Demonstrated alignment with V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.
• Basic computer capabilities.
• Track inspector skill set qualification.
• Gangers Ticket (Certificate 3).
• Certificate II - Rail Infrastructure.
• Safe Working Certificate Level 4.
• The willingness to work permanent night shift, occasional overtime, different shifts, and travel when required.
