Role Overview

As a Mainframe Systems Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and performance of our mainframe systems. Your expertise will be essential in analyzing and predicting workload trends, optimizing system resources, and proactively identifying potential bottlenecks. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Execute Capacity Planning Strategies: Create and implement effective capacity planning strategies to ensure optimal performance and scalability of our mainframe systems.
  • Monitor System Performance: Continuously monitor system performance, analyze trends, and provide recommendations for improvements to ensure seamless operations.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with IT, operations, and business teams to understand future workload demands and align system resources accordingly.
  • Conduct Performance Tuning and Workload Analysis: Conduct regular performance tuning, workload analysis, and stress testing to identify and mitigate potential system bottlenecks.
  • Prepare Regular Reports: Prepare and present regular reports on system performance, capacity, and health to senior management.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Developments: Stay current with the latest developments in mainframe technologies and apply best practices to enhance system efficiency.
  • Participate in Incident Management: Participate in incident management and root cause analysis for performance-related issues.
Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience in Mainframe Capacity Planning: Possess extensive experience in mainframe capacity planning and performance management, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong Knowledge of Mainframe Technologies: Have a strong knowledge of mainframe technologies, including IBM z/OS, CICS, DB2, and related subsystems.
  • Proven Track Record in Performance Tuning: Demonstrate a proven track record in performance tuning, workload analysis, and system optimization.
  • Experience with Monitoring Tools: Have experience with monitoring tools and performance management software specific to mainframe environments.
  • Excellent Analytical Skills: Possess excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data to make informed decisions.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Have strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
