This is a unique opportunity for a medical professional to make a meaningful contribution in the field of diagnostic radiology.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Visiting Medical Officer to join our team at St George Hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic radiology services, working in a 'reporting engine' environment where the bulk of image reporting occurs.

You will work on a 12-month trial that offers an innovative approach to diagnostic radiology reporting, using a fee-for-service type model. Additionally, you will participate in TEG (Training, Engagement, and Governance) shifts, which include training and supervision of registrars, MDT attendance, consultation with clinical teams, quality improvement, research, and more.

Main Responsibilities
  • Report on ED and other examinations from 0800 to 2400 hours each day, with remuneration commensurate with the number of examinations reported and their complexity.
  • Participate in TEG functions, including training and supervision of registrars, participation in MDTs, consultation with clinical teams, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the department's on-call rosters.
  • Prioritize continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements.
Requirements
  • Registration or eligible for registration with Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists and/or equivalent specialist recognition.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching, research, and high-quality clinical practice.
  • Ability to work effectively with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
