Job Description

Kuehne + Nagel is a leading global logistics provider seeking an experienced Distribution Solutions Engineer to join our team. Located in Melbourne's western suburbs, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our customers' supply chains.

Your Role

We are looking for a highly skilled professional who can develop and implement innovative distribution solutions to drive business growth and customer satisfaction. The primary objective of this role is to gain and retain customers by offering industry-leading solutions across all distribution services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the Business Development team and customers to prepare compelling tenders, conduct thorough customer analysis, and navigate contract complexities with strategic insight.
  • Create robust cost and financial models to support customer proposals by developing and driving compelling distribution solutions from analysis to implementation.
  • Craft competitive pricing solutions for customer tenders, fostering strong client relationships and securing new business opportunities while nurturing existing partnerships.
  • Drive innovation by identifying new concepts and technology, as well as building on existing best practices.
  • Present solutions to customers confidently as part of the tendering process.
  • Contribute to the management team developing and designing strategic solutions for customers, challenging the status quo, and constructively guiding customers where needed.
  • Develop strong partnerships with key vendors to optimize costing and service lead times.
  • Leverage available tools and systems while ensuring a high standard of compliance at all times.
  • Define and propose the best matching solution considering requirements versus operational constraints.
  • Innovate and implement continuous improvement initiatives that elevate financial conditions and service levels across customers and carriers.
  • Quickly scan and value assess opportunities for Contract Logistics (including Go/NoGo decisions) as well as feasibility evaluations of requested Go-Live scenarios.
  • Set up segment-specific databases to include subcontractor prices, vehicle planning tools, fleet equipment, specialist solutions, industry benchmarking, zero failure processes, and implementation or operations support for re-engineering.
  • Work closely with the Divisional Finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and insightful analysis of business trends and performance metrics, driving informed decision-making.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in a local transport or 3PL organization.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Solutions-driven and innovative approach.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is approximately $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
