Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Director to lead our Microbiology team in Queensland. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and supporting a dynamic team in the Microbiology sciences.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead and supervise a team of Scientists, Technical Officers and Laboratory Assistants
  • Technical delivery of the service across Queensland
  • Develop and validate methods for detecting, isolating and identifying microorganisms in various samples
  • Interpret data and prepare detailed reports to support clinical diagnostics, research studies and regulatory compliance
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in microbiology and implement best practices in the laboratory
  • Ensure that protocols and procedures are kept up to date
  • Mentor and coach technical staff to develop and grow professionally in laboratory management and testing skills
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within either of the two disciplines
  • Proficient in laboratory techniques and familiarity with laboratory equipment
  • SOUND knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
  • Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

Salary Information

The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 AUD, depending on experience.

This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases.
