As a Safety Advisor on our Sydenham to Bankstown Project (S2B) project, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our projects are executed in a safe and compliant manner, while working in a rail environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational support to the project management and construction team and ensure compliance with safety systems and procedures
  • Support the Safety Manager with conducting incident and accident investigations that may require litigation, as well as routine safety inspections and monitoring work areas
  • Establish positive working relationships with project personnel and raise awareness of safety risks
  • Assist with the development of safety policies specific to the project and administer safety programs for project employees
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable legislative requirements, government regulations, standards, and policies
  • Evaluate, investigate, and gather information that will address inadequacies concerning safety matters
  • Review specific high-risk planned works to be undertaken to ensure compliance with the method of work
  • Support the team with audit processes

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS / Safety Management
  • Experience within the Construction industry, Rail experience highly desirable
  • Experience monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on performance, compliance, and defects
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic and busy environment
  • A people person with well-developed communication skills
  • Current drivers licence
  • Flexibility to occasionally work weekends and/or night shift to support our rail possessions – rostered basis and some eligible shifts receive an additional payment
  • Experience in conducting and interpreting audit reviews and knowledge of quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls is highly desirable
