About this Role

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out searches for contraband and dangerous materials within prison premises.
  • Gather intelligence information including compiling profiles (including collating duties).
  • Implement practices as outlined in the Prisons Drug Strategy.
  • Maintain the grooming, training, and care of canines on a regular basis both on and off duty.
  • Ensure canine performance meets required standards.
  • Develop relationships with external agencies through liaison.
  • Collaborate in joint operations with other agencies.
  • Track and report anomalies and breaches of security to management.

Essential Requirements:

  • Hold a valid Cert III in Correctional Practice & 2 years correctional experience.
  • Be fully vaccinated (Triple Vaccinated).
  • Demonstrate high physical fitness.
  • Have exceptional written communication skills to write factual reports.
  • Commit to 13-week offsite training course.
  • Able to house and look after your canine at home and in vehicle.
  • Will work with canine outside working hours exercising them at least twice daily when not rostered.
