We are seeking dedicated professionals to support students with diverse learning needs in a high school environment. The ideal candidate will provide tailored assistance to students with physical impairments, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and other diverse needs.

About the Role:

This role is vital in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, ensuring all students have equal access to education. The position specifically involves supporting a high-needs student with a physical impairment, with responsibilities including assistance with toileting and mobility around the school.

Your Responsibilities:

">
  • Assist classroom teachers in delivering individualized educational programs for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, facilitating their participation in classroom activities.
  • Supporting and assisting students who require assistive technology to communicate.
  • Implement and support behaviour management strategies in line with individual student plans.
  • Assist with personal care needs, including toileting, mobility and feeding, as required.
  • Support students during school excursions and extracurricular activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to monitor and report on student progress.
  • Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A highly desired Certificate III or IV in Education Support or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
  • A strong understanding of the needs of students with disabilities and in particular physical impairment, intellectual disabilities, ASD, and ADHD.
  • The ability to implement individualized learning strategies and behaviour management plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • A Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or willingness to obtain.
