Family Support Professional

Mercy Community is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our New Families team. This is a permanent part-time position based in Nudgee, offering a unique opportunity for someone seeking predominantly night-shift work.
This role involves working in a shiftwork environment, with a focus on providing practical and emotional support to young mothers and their babies in the Mercy Community Intensive Support House. The successful candidate will contribute to the provision of a safe and supportive environment, enabling mothers to develop confidence in caring for their babies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting mothers to develop parenting and living skills through practical and emotional support
- Undertaking rostered shifts in the New Families Program Intensive Support House
- Providing information, education, and support to mothers to develop parenting and living skills
- Accurately documenting progress and providing written and verbal reports
- Building and maintaining relationships with mothers and role-modeling expected behaviors
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Certificate III or higher in Community Services or a related discipline, with relevant experience
- Experience working with babies and their families
- Demonstrated intermediate ability to use computer IT systems, including MS Office
- Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
- Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver Licence
- Ability to obtain a positive notice in the legislatively required personal history check
- First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
