About the Role

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Lawyer to join our Legal, International and Regulatory Affairs Division.

As a key member of our team, you will provide legal advice and assistance to our operational, technical and corporate support areas, as well as contribute to the development and implementation of our regulatory philosophy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and assistance on regulatory enforcement matters to staff and management
  • Assist in the preparation and conduct of litigation matters in various Courts and Tribunals
  • Manage and conduct all litigation in which CASA is a party
  • Provision of legal advice to staff on the exercise of CASA's enforcement powers
  • Management of CASA's enforcement policy
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in law and admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or a Supreme Court of a State or Territory
  • At least 7 years post qualification experience
  • Ability to work autonomously and with only limited guidance or supervision
  • Highly developed written and oral communication and negotiation skills
  • Participate in professional development activities and meet Continuing Legal Education requirements
