Core Linux Kernel Developer Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Linux Kernel Engineer to join our global team working on the Ubuntu kernel. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining all supported Ubuntu Linux kernels for various platforms and architectures.

Your Role
  • You will collaborate with a globally distributed team to develop and maintain the Linux kernel.
  • You will work closely with external silicon, cloud, or hardware manufacturer delivery teams on bleeding-edge platforms.
  • You will diagnose and resolve issues in the kernel reported by customers, the community, and discovered by your own rigorous testing.
  • You will take personal responsibility for the delivery of various flavors of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
  • You will improve tooling and automation for delivery and test of Ubuntu Linux kernels.
Requirements
  • You must be a well-organized and motivated individual able to thrive in a remote work environment.
  • You should possess a professional manner with colleagues, business partners, and the open-source community.
  • You must have the ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
  • You should have programming experience in C and/or Rust.
  • You should be familiar with version control practices, ideally with git.
  • You should have an understanding of operating system kernel fundamentals.
