About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Property Underwriter to join our Sydney team as a Senior Property Underwriter focused on our NSW market. This role offers a development opportunity for an experienced Property Underwriter to take the next step in their career or established seniors to further their skills set.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and develop relationships within the broker segment in the NSW market while providing excellent client service.
  • Determine the acceptability, conditions, and pricing of moderate to complex insurance risks and agree on coverage within business strategy, risk appetite, regulatory requirements, product offerings, and designated authority level.
  • Showcase outstanding communication skills liaising with account management and business development teams and provide technical support and coaching to support teams.
  • Apply underwriting strategy with respect to target markets and accounts in the area of responsibility.
  • Underwrite Property insurance risks adhering to underwriting guidelines and standards.
  • Liaise with account management and business development teams to support account management and procurement.
  • Support and mentor team, provide guidance as appropriate, and take responsibility for personal development.
  • Support the management of the Property portfolio across underwriting processing and credit management, documentation issuance, and general servicing and management of liability risks.
About You
  • Proven current knowledge of the general insurance industry, as demonstrated in involvement in trade and industry and familiarity working within the insurance legal and regulatory environment.
  • Solid experience operating as a Property Underwriter.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Pricing and Portfolio Management.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels essential and previous experience coaching and mentoring desirable.
  • An insurance qualification, e.g., ANZIIF Cert IV or in the process of working towards.
