Vestas is excited to announce an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Electrical Site Supervisor to become a vital part of our PPS Commissioning and High Voltage operations team.

This position entails overseeing high voltage activities at our wind energy projects, specifically focusing on managing HV operations effectively. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong presence in the local area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the High Voltage Operations and Energy Control Coordinator during the commissioning phase of wind farm substations.
  • Serve as the HV Responsible Officer (HVRO), ensuring the coordination of HV work among electrical contractors and authorized personnel.
  • Develop and implement switching programs, execute HV switching, isolation, and earthing, while ensuring compliance with safety documentation in line with Vestas HV Safety Rules.
  • Foster a safe working environment during high voltage operations.
  • Engage in Safety in Design Reviews to enhance project safety.
  • Oversee inspections and testing of electrical components and infrastructure, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
  • Provide regular updates on inspection progress and quality assurance submissions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical inquiries.
  • Maintain communication with personnel based in other locations to ensure alignment on project objectives.
  • Monitor project progress and contribute to problem-solving strategies to mitigate any delays.
  • Lead and coordinate HAZCOM meetings during the commissioning phase.
  • Supervise electrical construction activities, pre-commissioning, and HV commissioning of the Electrical Balance of Plant.
  • Prepare switching programs and inspection test plans for initial energization.
  • Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and quality assurance documentation submitted by subcontractors, providing daily progress reports on electrical equipment installation.
  • Participate in final walkdowns for punch listing.
  • Cultivate positive working relationships with clients and contractors on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with project scope, completing all assigned tasks within established timelines and budget constraints.
  • Attend site and progress meetings, offering expert insights in relevant areas.
  • Bring a strong understanding of standards compliance to the team.
  • Ensure all work adheres to quality and safety standards.
  • Keep the Construction Manager and Site Electrical Engineer informed about work progress and potential issues.
  • Identify risks to project execution and communicate with the Site Manager and Site Electrical Engineer.
  • Resolve coordination challenges with contractors and agree on solutions.
  • Anticipate, monitor, and procure necessary tools, equipment, and labor to ensure availability.
  • Manage subcontractors in remote locations throughout the electrical works phase of the construction project.

Qualifications

  • Relevant high voltage operational certifications.
  • Experience in developing and executing high voltage switching programs.
  • Strong background in working safely near live electrical apparatus.
  • Proven ability to perform HV field switching operations.
  • Electrical License (Unrestricted) is essential.
  • Experience in managing subcontractors in a construction environment.
  • Knowledge of industrial legislation and Australian standards.
