About the Role

The Design Director, Highways will play a crucial role in the success of our infrastructure projects. As a senior-level professional, you will be responsible for the overall design, development, and delivery of highway projects, ensuring they are completed within the program and meeting the required technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and designers in the development of highways design projects from concept to completion.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Review and approve design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Coordinate with other internal teams and external contractors to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Identify and mitigate risks throughout the design process.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and meeting and exceeding delivery requirements.
  • Experience leading and mentoring a team of professionals to deliver exceptional service.
  • Excellent knowledge of project management, business management systems and procedures, and financial systems.
  • Strong client engagement and business development experience would be advantageous.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Highways Design Manager or similar role, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in highway design.
  • In-depth knowledge of highway design principles, standards, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software and tools.
