As a combat medic, you'll have exciting opportunities supporting Army domestic activities, including exercises and operations, with potential deployments overseas. You'll be trained to expand your paramedic capabilities far beyond what would be expected in civilian work.

In this role, you'll provide evacuation coordination and primary health care when necessary. This could happen anywhere from an Army exercise interstate to operations overseas, so you'll acquire plenty of knowledge to take back to your day job.

  • Initial 35-day military training course for basic skills
  • 3 day Combat Paramedic training at your local Army unit for specialized skills
  • Serve between 20 and 100 days each year (at least 50 days preferred)
  • Fulfill your service commitments around your existing work and family responsibilities

The Army provides valuable resources to help you approach your employer about your ambition to serve as a Reservist.

  • Then postings to Army Reserve units based in various locations across the country
  • Fully-paid training for all aspects of the role
  • Once trained, a starting package of $167.96 per day tax-free
  • Pay increases with rank and experience gained over time
  • Minimum age requirement is 17 years old
  • A minimum of a Diploma of Paramedical Science (Ambulance) or equivalent qualification required
